Scratch Programming: Grades 7 & 8

Intro to Scratch: Grades 7 & 8

Developed at the computer science department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Scratch is a simple, easy-to-learn graphical programming language that allows TechU.me students to create interactive stories, animations, games, music and art. Within the first five minutes, students are developing using puzzle pieces that click together to build a program. A completed project – whether a game or an animation – can be easily uploaded to the Scratch website, and shared with others.

In Intro to Scratch, students are exposed to two or three sessions and shown how the skills they develop and the work they do prepares them for future programming courses in high school.
